Synopsis: Ginga Reggae is a musical documentary exploring the rich reggae culture on the island of São Luís, Maranhão—known as the “Brazilian Jamaica.” The film intertwines the local history of the genre with the trajectory of Célia Sampaio, a pioneering reggae singer and the “lady of reggae,” revealing how this culture became a space of resistance and celebration of the Black diaspora through dance and music.
