The Divine in Me
Synopsis: Vinicius returns to Alcântara (MA) to experience the city’s major celebration of community life, the Festa do Divino Espírito Santo. Through this journey, we meet Andressa, a seventeen-year-old student who serves as a “bandeirinha” and dreams of becoming a master dancer like Seu Moacyr, the festival’s general coordinator, and the “caixeiras” Marlene and Romana—farmers in their daily lives and ritual custodians who, for decades, have sung and preserved the tradition that shapes the city.
